Ship Cove - Furneaux Lodge, Anakiwa - Davies Bay, Queen Charlotte Track
The Queen Charlotte Track runs almost the entire length of New Zealand's Queen Charlotte Sound. The track stretches from Ship Cove to Anakiwa - 70 kilometre of spectacular walking track passing through historic sites, secluded bays and lush coastal bush.

James Cook monument - Ship Cove icon
British navigator James Cook preferred the Sounds over any other part of New Zealand, making five visits between 1770 and 1777. On the first occasion he raised British flags in Ship Cove and on Motuara Island, claiming sovereignty over the surrounding area. Cook renamed as Queen Charlotte Sound in honour of King George III's consort
