Routeburn and Greenstone Track (Day 2)


Day 2 - Routeburn Falls Hut to Lake Mackenzie Hut (purple marking), side walk : Lake Mackenzie lake side walk (blue marking)


track meanders through wetlands and tussock-covered flats




overnight heavy rain and rain in the morning, water flowing over the path





arriving at Lake Harris



A steep sidle through bluffs above the lake leads to the Harris Saddle


before arriving at Harris Saddle, passing several beautiful and elegant tarns

no valley views because of mist but the alpine plants become much more vivid

Lake Mackenzie Hut (Day 2 night)

massive chunks of stone are visible piled roughly at the foot of the lake
