這次Whangarei 四天之旅 除了登山 我們也抽空走訪一些walkway和garden 勞逸均分啊! 所謂walkway就是鋪設良好 老少咸宜的步道. 這裡有十多條非常優美的walkways. 難怪除了Tauranga, Whangarei也是退休老人的首選.  Kelly現在熱衷於拍照 Whangarei 之旅裡有一半的photo是由她拍照...

Mair Park

Mair Park就在住宿Whangarei Top 10左近 一到這裡我們就被它的優美靜縊所吸引..

Mair Park就沿著Hatea River  野鴉悠遊河中 如brochure言 有若天堂

通過footbridge 向左有walkway(50min)到A H Reed Memorial Park   向右則有walkway(30min)到Town Basin(city) 後面會介紹A H Reed Memorial Park和Town Basin

A H Reed Memorial Park

This park is named after A H Reed, a well-known New Zealand author, publisher and long distance walker.  A H Reed was a significant player in protecting the falls from quarrying and retaining the kauri trees in the forest.

The impressive canopy

The park is a magnificent remnant of the original Northland kauri forest.  Huge kauri trees known to be at least 500 years old can be easily viewed close up from an impressive walkway through the forest canopy.

Whangarei Quarry Gardens

Whangarei Quarry Gardens features a sub-tropical garden, and a garden of the five senses, with water falls, a man-made lake and stream. There are walking tracks throughout the gardens and links to the adjacent Coronation Reserve. Whangarei Quarry Gardens是由一處廢棄採石廠以及眾多志工建造起來的.
